Kleine Hochstrasse 9-11, Frankfurt
It feels good in a restaurant with a renovated underground wine cellar. I have a representative take me once and I can manage to walk from Frankfurt Central Station
Very nice atmosphere in a wine cellar. A bit expensive.
Check the wine season card!
We used it when we stayed overnight in Frankfurt. It seems to have renovated a former winery and opened it in a basement store. There is also a Japanese menu so you can order with confidence. I ordered mainly meat dishes, but the amount is quite large and the volume is full. I understand why many people come with their families. The food was delicious, but it was a bit salty. Beer advances. I'm not very dissatisfied, but I was sorry that they didn't come to order.
It's a bit salty dish for Japanese people. But looking around, it's normal in Germany because an older local couple is eating the same food. The atmosphere is wonderful and the menu has Japanese notation so it is easy to understand.
- A main course was sliced with spaetzle. The spaetzle was completely soaked and the sliced meat with a rubbery consistency. We let the food go back and didn't have to pay anything for it - after all! - The other main course was roasted dumplings on mushroom sauce. There were only two dumplings (small!) And mushrooms, for about 14 €. It tasted quite good, but didn't nearly fill me up for the price. + Wine was ok. + Food came relatively quickly. But it can also be due to the fact that apart from two Asians and an older lady, nobody was in the basement. The starter cheese was fine too. Even world class compared to the rest of the food. Unfortunately, no recommendation ...
An original specialty, great flavor, excellent service, I would definitely recommend!
The Vinum wine cellar is a large vaulted cellar not far from Fressgasse and offers a selection of tasty wines as well as home-style cooking
Well, cheese spätzle with cream does not work with me, sweet and unimaginative side salad. 12 € juicy price. On our table was missing the wine season ticket, which we later found by chance on a neighboring table. Whole bottle is not limited to tasting, but simply put on the table. Overall, I was not satisfied with the price-performance ratio.
Nice place to go!!! Food was good and friendly staff and service!!!
Amazing underground restaurant with original German food. However, waiter was not so helpful and seems totally unmotivated. Also, do check your bill as we were overcharged with an unknown drink. Didn’t apologize as well .
Top.
The amount was great and delicious
A little touristy, but comfortable. Perfect for cooling down on hot summer evenings.
Quiet cozy place with a really sensational beverage selection
Mostly full and loud. Entertainment with table neighbors possible only with the use of vocal tape-hardening volume. Staff only partly friendly. Food good. My subjective perception, other guests may well disagree.
The food is delicious and the menu is easy to understand Japanese
Really cool decor and atmosphere. Attentive service. Food was pretty good, not totally memorable. Wine was good - the house white wine was a very sweet, but with a good selection, alternatives are available.
Beautiful vaulted cellar. Not recommended for claustrophobicer. Portion sizes of different dishes differed a lot, though all were entrees. Some of us were full while others were still hungry. But all dishes were already prepared.
they have really good wine varieties but don’t order any food or water, I hade really bad stomach infection after eating there one night. The bottle water came with the top opened, I asked some of my friend who also went there lately the suggested the same situation, and they all felt bad after having water or food there. Highly doubted they just refill the bottle with tap water.
Vinum is a solid choice for a meal of traditional German dishes. The atmosphere is better than the food, but the food is good, not great. The service was professional and quick. All in all it was a good experience, not an experience that is crying out to happen again. I probably won't go back because there are so many choices, but I have no regrets.
Very nice "underground" Restaurant, I liked very much the decoration and the main course I ordered (Lamb stew with mixed mushrooms, roast potatoes) was delicious! For sure will visit again :) Very friendly staff and quick service!
Good enough
For a wine it is a nice location with a good selection. But we had ordered a cheese platter and this was for 13 euros really very disappointing, as cheaper supermarket cheese.
The price is too expensive for the quantity and quality that is on the plate! Otherwise it fits. The cellar is ok. The high kitchen is not.
Good German cuisine.
Has the name "wine cellar" only the ambience in common. For large groups of Asian tourists who want to enjoy German pork knuckle and wheat beer, very well suited!
Being like the site of the wine reservoir is the best atmosphere and noticeable because no radio waves enter! Japanese menu is also available Everything is delicious!
Nice restaurant, unfortunately a bit lacking the comfort. Unless, one stands on larger tables and sociability. The supply of food and drink was manageable, but still very good. The portion could be a bit bigger. All in all recommended
A very nice restaurant specially the space. The food was good but not memorable.
I did not want to eat it because I wanted to eat it. It was not possible ... The choice to choose was just before and after Eipo. I finally ate Schnitzel + sausage. The green sauce from Schnitzel was nice because it was cool and tasty, but that was the end. It's much better. I do not know about sausage. Uh, I do not know. The store atmosphere is good and there are a lot of Japanese people. I just did not want to go back.
Full disclosure, I don't drink alcohol. So I have no idea how good the wine at this place actually is, but the food was great. Even getting to the place sets a fun ambiance as you walk down more steps than you would expect and end up surrounded by brick foundation arches and large wine barrels. Our waiter was very nice and the food was very good.
The ambience is nice and charming. A real old cellar where wine used to be kept back in the day. The staff was nice and helpful. But honestly, I would have liked to find more variety of wine since the place is dedicated to the beverage.
This is an excellent restaurant and wine cellar. The wait staff was excellent. We wanted to have dinner and by chance, we selected Vinium. Although we did not make a reservation, the waitstaff did their best to seat us. The wine list is fabulous with many excellent German and other European wines to choose from. The food is excellent as well. We recommend this place for dinner.
This is supposed to be a wine focussed place to eat and there are many references to Bacchus, but I would imagine he would be outraged at the quality of wine proffered here....the riesling we had was unremarkable (and at the higher price range) and the bottle of german red was foul, with a terrible metallic aftertaste that lingered until morning, along with a cloudy head that spoke more of the (lack of) quality not the quantity of wine consumed. The food was very average, but I did quite like the decor, however this has much more a feel of a tourist trap, than a serious wine/eating place. The Maenads of Dionysus would not be ecstatically dancing if they came here.
Good selection of vine.
Typical German restaurant.
Great German wine selection as well as very good traditional dishes!
Our waiter (bold guy) forgot our order TWICE... better luck next time...
